Okay, unfortunately, they won’t really live forever and the effects of the leasons learned in the study may not even effect them, but there is a cool study from #texasam (Texas A&M) and the #universityofwashington called the #dogagingproject

If you have a #healthydog, a #dog at least 7 years old, between 44 - 120lb, spayed/neutered, and are willing to bring your dog to one of the participating sites regularly (every 6 months for 3 years) then your dog could qualify to participate and see if dogs can have better heart health, improved mobility, prolonged cognitive function, and increased lifespan from the medication.

(We’re not sponsored or even sure if we’re going to participate yet), but thought this could be a cool study to help future dogs’ health as well as possibly teach us more about human health.

#dogfact for the day:

Canis lupus familiaris (#dog) 🐶 - a SUPER domestic mammal of the family Canidae.

It is a subspecies of the gray wolf 🐺(SOMEHOW still 😂). Dogs are also related to foxes 🦊 and jackals 🦊. And have lived with humans for over 12,000 years now.

Human bought a #3dprinted #cookiecutter of a #basenji to make me some yummy treats.

Cute idea…weird result 😂. Looks kind of like a deer? But still delicious.

2 ingredient pumpkin treats:

1 cup pumpkin puree
1 1/4 cup wheat flour

1. Preheat that oven while you mix the ingredients together into a ball.
2. Flour a surface. Roll the dough out. Use your cookie cutter.
3. Bake it at 350 degrees for 25-ish minutes. Store in refrigerator once cooled. Mine only last about two days if stored on the counter (and cut the recipe in half if you’re doing that and you have a small to medium sized dog).

My human went to visit #dallasanimalservices today and played #furtographer to help some of my #doggy friends get adopted.

Knowing your #dog anatomy is key to a #happy and #longdoglife 😘🐶

Similar to humans, research is showing that the more mom #dogs allow their #pups to solution on their own, the better they are as problem solvers as they age and the more likely they are to try to figure out problems on their own before looking to their humans for help.

Training your #dog is showing similar results. The dogs with more training are more likely to try to solve things on their own before seeking their owners’ help. Have you noticed this with your dog?

According to #pubmed data as of 2021 there were 63 million households with at least one dog with most considering their #dog as a family member (we should hope so 😆).

#dogandhumanlove and communication are hot topics in #dogscience and have been since at least the early 2000’s, where researchers use the #unsolvabletask as a common method to measure human-directed communication.

What is the unsolvable task?

Basically, dogs learn how to solve a problem to obtain a reward. Then after a set number of times testing this, the reward becomes impossible to access.

Studies show that this leads the dog to attempt to communicate. Then the Researchers study that behavior. And we learn new stuff about ourselves and our furry friends.

The #sun moves into the same region of the sky as this star, which is a part of the constellation #canismajor or the #greaterdog

#dogreporting live from my living room to share the latest about #howtodetectai images.

The newest research is out of the Royal Astronomical Society’s National Astronomy Meeting in Hull where researchers have shared that the reflection in human eyes can be used to identify real or fake images.

Generally our eye reflections tend to match up in reality and vary in fakes.

Pretty sure we’re going to need #sighthound vision to detect these fakes until the technologists can deploy a tool for us to use.

And the science hasn’t been tested on #dogimages yet because thankfully people aren’t prioritizing #deepdoggyfakes yet…
